A Virtual Doorway to strengthen our Aboriginal Community

 

Our Vision is to Work together to improve Partnerships and the Sharing of knowledge between agencies as well as supporting each other to enable improved efficiency and direction in all area’s of the Aboriginal community.

The Dubbo Koori Interagency  (now known as Dubbo Koori Interagency Network or Dubbo KIN) was formed 10 years ago by Aboriginal people working within the Public Sector as a way of sharing information with other agencies. Over the years it has developed into one of the main contacts for Government and Non-Government agencies for the Dubbo Aboriginal community.

Membership is made up of at least 1 representative from each agency in Dubbo. Membership numbers have fluctuated between 80 to 100, with attendance at monthly meetings varying from 10 to sometimes as many as 30. Terms of Reference have been developed outlining the Vision, Objectives and Responsibilities of the membership.  Meetings are conducted under meeting Code of Conduct.

“Community & Families Working with Government to Shape the Future”

The DACWP seeks to provide a unified voice for the indigenous people in Dubbo.  While there is a common Aboriginal background in this area, many people come from different cultures and family traditions.  There are up to 57 Aboriginal Communities represented in Dubbo at any one time.  DACWP offers a unity voice for many different families and Aboriginal Cultures.  This is very important because smaller groups often feel isolated and powerless in a wider affluent community.
