About Us
VISION:
To Work together to improve Partnerships and the Sharing of knowledge between agencies as well as supporting each other to enable improved efficiency and direction in all area’s of the Aboriginal community.
OBJECTIVES:
- We will show respect for each other, regardless of mob, country or language.
- Develop and promote improved service delivery for Aboriginal people throughout Dubbo by networking and sharing information on issues affecting our community.
- Find out about the services we provide and the work that we do.
- Welcoming new Aboriginal people to Dubbo Koori Interagency Network and maintaining networks & supports for Aboriginal workers/members on an ongoing basis.
- To share information between Aboriginal workers in all areas of Government Federal & State and Community organisations.
MAJOR ROLES/ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a linkage between the organisations we work with.
- We support each other by providing information about our services through the sharing of information relevant to their networks as well as finding out more about our work and initiatives we're involved in.
- Communicate with Government and Aboriginal community agencies regarding the support and opportunities for Aboriginal people.
- Provide and share Information to all Aboriginal members from Dubbo Koori Interagency Network meetings.
- Provide support and advice to Aboriginal workers where necessary, in relevant agencies/organisations. Interact closely with ATSI community organisations as part of the support network.
- To coordinate, assist and support the development of NAIDOC activities in the Dubbo Community.
- To support the Dubbo Aboriginal Community Working Party.
KEY CHALLENGES:
- Increase the membership of Aboriginal people to Dubbo Koori Interagency Network
- Provide support and advice to Aboriginal workers within the various agencies
- Ability to meet regularly
- Ability to co-ordinate events for Dubbo Community ie NAIDOC
REPRESENTATION:
- The Dubbo Koori Interagency Network will consist of at least of one (1) representative from the various Agencies of Government and Non-Government in Dubbo.
- Release from Normal Duties
- It is expected that Aboriginal staff workers will be released from their normal duties roles to attend meetings, with full support of their workplace/managers.
MEETING PROTOCOLS:
- Same Venue for meetings.
- All Dubbo Koori Interagency Network members are encouraged to be punctual.
- Dubbo Koori Interagency Network members are encouraged to turn off mobile phones to avoid disruption to the meeting.
- All Dubbo Koori Interagency Network members are encouraged to participate in discussions of the meetings.
- Representatives should make every effort to attend meetings and ensure that the group is advised if they are not able to attend.
- Representatives will share information with all Aboriginal members organisation regularly as appropriate. This will be done by secretary emailing minutes and other documents, after each meeting, to all Aboriginal representatives.
